Love it or hate it - virtual is the way of the world these days. Everything from birthday parties to work out classes are happening over ZOOM. And work is no different. Meetings both big and small are happening over the web while many continue to work from home.
If you are in that zoom meeting boat we’re sure you know the struggle. You want to look professional and put together but you’re also on your living room couch or in your make-shift home office and things are a little weird. It can be tempting to just put your hair in a bun, skip all makeup and get to business. While we are totally down for a cute relaxed work look, we know that when we look and feel our best - we do our best. So, here are 4 tips to amp up your Zoom Meeting look so that you look, and feel, your BEST!
Let’s get real for a second. Concealer is essential. Not only does it cover up blemishes and imperfections, it also brightens things up. When heading to a (zoom) meeting, add some concealer under your eyes in an upside-down triangle shape. This gives you a lifted and well rested look while combatting the natural darkness under the eyes. Pro Tip - going a shade or two lighter on your under eye concealer can give you and even more bright and refreshed look!
Your hair makes up 80% of your look when on a Zoom Meeting so it’s important to have it looking fabulous. We know it’s all too tempting to throw it up in a messy bun or slick it back in a weird half ponytail and get down to business. But, we also know this can leave you looking less professional and feeling less put together. Instead, we recommend you opt for a sleek all down style for video chat meetings. Step 1, grab your hair brush and run it throughout your hair completely. At this point a lot of us just throw our hair up because it’s looking wild and untamed. Instead, grab some Oi Oil and run it through your hair mids to ends. This will smooth out your hair and tame your fly aways. It’s an immediate transformation that can make you feel totally put together and ready for any meeting.
Video footage can have a dulling effect on the skin. Nothing is worse than looking at the zoom grid and seeing yourself looking washed out and gray looking. To combat this, add some extra bronzer (or some blush) to the cheek area and around your temples. This extra color can go a long way to bringing life back to your skin. Trust us, everyone will notice a difference.
Good lighting is everything when it comes to a virtual meeting. So often we see people make the cardinal sin of zooming - having their back facing a window. See the below image for the tragic outcome.
We totally understand the thought process. A window makes a pretty back drop and it helps the zoomer themself be less of the focal point. But the result is a really weird darkening effect that isn’t doing anyone any favors. Instead, turn that situation around and give yourself some beautiful natural lighting. It really is best.
We hope these tips can give you a boost as you navigate this new normal. Happy Zooming Everyone!
